About Outpost Analytics
Outpost Analytics is a free, public map of property hazards across California. Search an address, or click any point in the state, for a hazard screening scorecard built from government data.
Screening only — not a legal or official determination. Verify with the issuing agency.
What it does
The map puts government hazard layers side by side: fire hazard zones, fire history, FEMA flood zones, earthquake fault and liquefaction zones, landslide susceptibility, groundwater basins, wetlands, critical habitat, contaminated sites and the Coastal Zone. Pick any point and the scorecard summarizes what those maps show there, along with elevation and slope. A scorecard has a link you can share.
Who makes it
Outpost Analytics is made by Valencia Labs, LLC, an independent software studio. It isn’t affiliated with any of the agencies whose data it shows.
Who it’s for
People researching a home or land in California, including rural and off-grid parcels, where the groundwater basin, slope, wetlands and habitat can matter as much as fire and flood. It is a first look before talking to the agencies, a lender, an insurer or a licensed professional.
How it works
Every hazard and terrain value comes from a government source; the data sources page lists each one. Outpost’s data is as of October 23, 2026 and is refreshed monthly. Four checks ask the agency’s own service at the moment you check a point. The satellite base map and address search are from Mapbox.
What it isn’t
- It isn’t a legal or official determination, and it isn’t a Natural Hazard Disclosure report.
- It isn’t an engineering, geologic, insurance or lending opinion.
- Boundaries are simplified for the web and can lag official updates. Verify anything that matters with the issuing agency.
